Worsened symptoms after diagnosis?
I was recently diagnosed at 30yo with ADHD-Inattentive, 2 years postpartum and feel that becoming a mom definitely brought my symptoms to light.
Since I was diagnosed 2.5 months ago, I feel my symptoms are even worse than before and I wonder if it’s just because I’ve been validated and my symptoms are just so much more obvious to me?
Examples:
- huge increase in sensory discomfort with just even wearing a t shirt or regular shirt and it touching my neck OR needing to lay on my kitchen tile floor for the cold sensation
- hyperfixation, I’ve always picked my nails and thought it was my generalized anxiety but recently realized it’s a hyper fixation and OMG is it 10x worse than it was 6, 12, 18 months ago
Is this just me realizing I was masking so much prior to diagnosis? Why do certain symptoms feel worse since being diagnosed? Has this happened to anyone else?
Note that I am on a medication journey. Prozac for anxiety, was prescribed Strattera but feel it made me fatigued and was sweating a lot, so stopped that and doc wants to revisit/try another in 2-3 weeks.
