Swim-shorts fabric

So I've been planning to sew a pair of swim shorts (board shorts) for a while but have no idea what kind of fabric is most suitable. I've been and asked in at least 20 fabric shops and no-one seemed to have any idea what I was talking about! I know it is some kind of quick-dry polyester but beyond that I haven't a clue. Any help would be appreciated.
