Questions about game mechanics

What does it mean for a weapon to have listed attributes? Eg the Lanceram has Vitality C and Agility D
Do your weapon automatically level up with you? I'm level 6 right now, and I've noticed that Gustave and Lune's weapons have gone up to level 2.
The game said that if I have a Pictos equipped for 5 battles, I'll master the Lumina and can use it without the Pictos. But this doesn't seem to work for the Critical Burn pictos I picked up, I need to equip it to get the benefit. Why is this?
Any recommended order for levelling up attributes?
