Backstory: Things had been going extremely well with living with my partner for about a month. We had a huge rift right at moving and we almost broke up and I stated that I needed a peaceful home if it was going to work at all. We have the unfortunate timing of both being unemployed right now (I quit for another job that sadly fell through and he got fired for one of his “episodes”). I have money in savings and have been paying our way the last 3 weeks including paying his $430 storage unit, which adds to money he already owes me. He does not have any money currently.

He has been trying very hard the last couple weeks to pull his weight by doing things around the house, cooking for us, tending the garden, and working on my cars. He’s also been very kind and loving, and self-aware and seeming to make a lot of progress. He is also applying to jobs every day. We are both in recovery. I don’t have a desire to drink anymore and he knows that he cannot because he turns into an absolute asshole. I have had my own mental health struggles so I tend to be an understanding person, especially to someone who is trying to do better. But I also have gotten really far and I just don’t think I can take his outbursts anymore. We can’t go more than several weeks without him having a freak out episode and the roller coaster is killing me. I don’t deserve any of these texts. Of course now he is saying that he will do anything to make it up, that I’m worth doing whatever it takes, that he’ll do the therapy, etc. But I’ve heard this before.

Quick note: this whole text thread started because he got it in his head that he needed to go get us firewood immediately for the property and that I needed to buy him a chainsaw. I woke up to a $300 Venmo request. It’s July, we don’t get any weather until mid-October and we have a decent stack of firewood currently. I sent him an audio recording saying that I didn’t want to buy the chainsaw right now, that I didn’t really like getting a request first thing in the morning when neither of us are working and that it’s behaviors that I’ve dealt with in the past with other partners and don’t appreciate it (I have a small inheritance in savings and been treated like a credit card). I also requested that we have our meeting that we didn’t have so we can come up with a game plan about our work and get really clear and focused. I didn’t say anything about him not performing.

PwBPD drank again while I was away, sent these texts, and then threatened su*cide
