Gaining weight on a cut after starting TRT? MacroFactor keeps lowering my calories
I recently started TRT at 120mg per week after testing with low testosterone under 250. I workout all the time and have recently been cutting using MacroFactor, which is a calorie tracking app that adjusts your intake automatically based on your weight trends. I started at 2580 calories with an estimated maintenance of 2800. Over the last four weeks, the app has slowly dropped me down to 2350 calories because of minimal weight loss.
I have only lost about 0.8 pounds total during this time, but I have noticed clear changes in body fat percentage and appearance. My step count averages around 8000 per day and I have been consistent with tracking and training. No binging or missed meals.
The frustrating part is that I am now feeling more fatigued and hungry, which tells me I am likely in a real deficit. But the scale is not showing it, which is messing with me mentally.
Could this be early TRT water retention or glycogen storage masking the fat loss Has anyone else gone through this
Trying to figure out if I should keep trusting the app to auto adjust or take manual control of my intake. Would appreciate advice from anyone who has been through something similar
I know the scale is not everything and that TRT can cause water retention early on. I am not looking to be told to chill or stop overthinking. Just hoping to hear from others who have dealt with something like this and what helped
