How to make sure my work isn't stolen?

Recently I started working with music and I saw a producer posting on his story asking for demos or samples to be sent by email. I thought I'd send my melody as demo but I'm not sure how I can secure them? Like what if they use it and not credit me? Like or they sample it and I don't even know they did. Is there way imti officially own a track before you send it to someone?
