Returning to ECE

ECE professionals only - Feedback wanted :snoo_smile:

I am heavily considering going back into the field on a full time or part time basis. My current situation is that I am 28 and have just now re-enrolled in college for the Fall semester. I have half of an associates and my goal is to work towards a bachelors in teaching (preferably middle school sciences).

My reasoning for considering this field again is not to go against my goals of a bachelors. However, my fiancé and I are really over capacity with our current living situation. We live with my entire family and it is not a healthy environment for us in the slightest. He has intentions of pursuing a full time job as a stepping stone as well.

Our sights right now are to get out of here as fast as possible. My original plan was to "zoom" through school and only go back to work as a public school teacher. That is genuinely going to take me at least 5 years as I qualify for disability services with my school and require less classes per semester and more time on tests etc. Point being - I don't know if I can live in our current situation and last that long in school. I feel like I need to take a step back and work to find a way out of the house. From there on I really don't know what that would look like but I am one who believes anything is possible even if it is difficult.

TLDR;

If you were in a living situation that was seriously causing you psychological stress and were desperate to get out - would returning to this field be WORTH IT to achieve that goal?

Not forever in my life but as a stepping stone. I understand there is not a lot of career growth and low pay. I just feel so confused and frustrated that I'm back at this point. But my dream right now is to have peace and a place of our own.

I am extremely experienced in the chaos of this field so knowing that should be a testament of how much I want out of my current living situation.

Anything is helpful. ECE professionals only in the comments please.
