Are these write offs illegal?

I have a colleague who was messaging me recently, and they claimed that any and all home improvements done to their home, including landscaping, can be written off for the business since they have clients come to the home regularly

This seems… not legal. I know my tax preparer would never allow me to write something like that off.

Does anyone here know if this is just blatantly breaking tax law?
