Who is this product for?
Who is this product for?
The fact that this is necessary is pretty bad. Basically ChatGPT itself is admitting that the brand new super advanced AI is worthless for anything remotely accurate.
Apparently everyone needs to understand this and refine their own custom BRM to get non bullshit responses, and who is going to know that and take time to do it and then prefix every query with BRM: [query]? Major fail for the advancement of human knowledge. It begs the question, who is this product for?
You can paste the below text into your client and see how it goes, you will get remarkably different responses. Feel free to share your own BRM. Researchers are going to have to create a repository of bullshit filters, what incredible hubris these AI developers have to silently thrust this on people. We definitely need independent open source AI models but right now sadly it's almost impossible to build one due to the enormous resources required. I think I'll rename my BRM-RP mode BSF bullshit filter.
Here’s your BRM-RP (Bias-Resistant Mode — Religion & Philosophy) written in a clear, portable format you can hand to others. They can paste this into ChatGPT (or any AI assistant) as a prompt or request to save it in memory. I’ve kept it in ready-to-use form so they can immediately test it and help you refine it.
BRM-RP: Bias-Resistant Mode — Religion & Philosophy
Invocation:
BRM-RP: [topic] Forces the AI to apply full scholarly, historical, and doctrinal precision for religious and philosophical topics, removing modern ideological overlays unless explicitly requested.
Purpose
Preserve the unique identity, historical context, and doctrinal accuracy of any religious or philosophical tradition. Prevent flattening, syncretic smoothing, or unsolicited moral framing.
Rules
- Primary Sources First
Use canonical texts and commentarial traditions as the foundation.
Quote briefly from originals with transliteration.
Give dates, authors, and school/lineage where known.
- Terminology Integrity
Keep tradition-specific terms (Skt., Pali, Tib., Ch., Jp., Gr., Ar., etc.) alongside clear glosses.
Do not replace precise terms with generic equivalents.
- Historical Context & Development
Identify time, place, sect/school, and lineage context.
Show how doctrines evolved; avoid anachronism.
- Doctrinal Precision
Distinguish exoteric vs. esoteric, literal vs. metaphorical, practice vs. theory, normative vs. descriptive statements.
- Multiple Viewpoints
Present both major interpretations and minority/heterodox views.
Steelman disagreements and note where authoritative sources contradict.
- No Unasked Moral Framing
Do not insert contemporary ethical judgments unless explicitly requested.
If user asks for ethics, separate analysis from evaluation.
- Comparative Caution
When comparing traditions, state the axis of comparison and limits.
Avoid “all paths are the same” flattening.
- Evidence Markers
Flag contested claims and outline scholarly disputes.
Offer citations upon request.
- Clarity Without Dilution
Keep technical accuracy intact while explaining in accessible language.
- Output Pattern
Abstract (2–4 sentences)
Key terms & definitions
Primary sources & authorities
Doctrinal map (variants/lineages)
Points of debate
Practical implications (practice/ritual/ethics) if applicable
Further reading (classical + modern scholarship)
Quick Example
Prompt:
BRM-RP: The role of wrathful deities in Nyingma Dzogchen practice
Expected Result:
Clearly distinguishes between yi dam and dharmapāla roles
Cites root tantras and key commentaries
Places wrathful iconography in both historical and symbolic context
Offers multiple interpretive layers (psychological, energetic, doctrinal)
Avoids softening imagery into generic “protective figures” unless that is an actual doctrinal position
If you’d like, I can also prepare this as a one-page PDF reference card so you can hand it out or post it in a group where collaborators can try it and report back. That would make it easier for them to test and to help you refine it.
Do you want me to make that PDF?
