How Serious Is This

Cardiac

Almost two years ago I was hospitalized for what I was initially told was a heart attack. When I first got to the ER, everyone was super calm because outside the heart pain I was experiencing, everything was checking out fine. Chest scans, EKG, heart rate, etc all checked out good.

That all changed when they got the results from my blood test back, the ER doctor, who before was very casual, came back with a very apparent look of stress/worry on her face. She asked me again what my symptoms were and then immediately told me to anticipate being at the hospital for a couple days. When I asked why, no answer.

The first ER nurse I had told me I was having a heart attack but no one else would confirm. It wasn't until the 3rd day I was told the final prognosis, Perimyocarditis (if I misspelt, forgive me I am not a med student). What led them to believe I was having a heart attack were my troponin levels.

I was informed when I first got to the hospital, my troponin level was 10,000 with over the next 24 hours, it peaking at just above 18,000. It wasn't until the colchicine treatment that we started to see this go down.

Ever since then, I get sick more, worse, and my heart has good days and bad days.

Give it to me straight, how screwed am I (or not) and what can I do to help prevent a future episode from occurring. I've made changes to diet, exercise, etc, but I always get that sensation in the heart from time to time.

PS. the doctors weren't stressed since I was 29 when this happened.
