New phenomenon - 2 weeks - cough (not sick)

Tips and Tricks

Our 2 month old has developed a new scary trait in the past week or so..when I asked pediatrician about it she was unbothered and felt kind of dismissed..so looking for anecdotal reassurance

Baby boy has started coughing / choking on his spit / spit up maybe? It can be scary as it takes him 4-5 coughs to work it out himself, sometimes maybe even turns a little red and has to gasp to get his breathe back. He dosent cry but looks at you like wtf…

He spits up some but it’s not every feed and never a lot…before it happens you can hear the spit / mucus in his throat I wish I could swallow for him but clearly doesn’t know that if he just swallowed it would clear his larynx.

It happens a couple times a day I can almost dictate when it’s coming by the sound of his breathing it’s like congestion in his throat not his nose.

Anyone else have this happen? Choking / coughing on spit that seems non feeding related. Thanks anyone/everyone 🙏🏼
