Is it safe to apply thermal paste to new CPU and not turning it on for the first time until next 2 months?

Hi fellow PC builder I want to ask a question. I am building my first PC, I got all the PC components but dont have the peripherals yet (monitor, keyboard, mouse). I will complete the peripherals in next 2 months. I get really excited and want to assemble it right now including applying thermal paste to CPU, but I won't turn it on for the first time until I complete my peripherals. Is it okay?

I am noob so sorry for stupid question
