The underlying truth behind the behavior

Addiction was born before language even existed — there were very deep emotions you never spoke about, so you turned them into coded behaviors to express them and escape from them. Yes, your use of pornography has its root cause in that; it doesn’t have to mean you were subjected to rape or sexual harassment, but perhaps to some form of physical or verbal abuse, or something similar. Something caused you psychological pain that you never expressed, combined with certain negative beliefs such as perfectionism and focusing only on the negative side. All this led to a state of disconnection, and you found pornography as a solution — but a flawed one. It creates a false connection for seconds, an escape from reality, and then you come back feeling worse than before. So the only real treatment is to admit that you are in pain and share what has hurt you for years with another person. Secondly, you need to identify your personal flaws and correct them — ideally with the help of someone else who can tell you what they are, so you can break free from denial. By doing so, you will no longer need pornography or any similar crutch, and instead, you will begin to discover your true self, accept it, and express it.
