Subaru Outback Battery Failure—Replaced & Checked “nothing is wrong”
Hello All, This is my first time posting on this site, so I’m not sure of all the etiquette, but here goes
Maybe should post this up top: TLDR: Subaru Outback 2022, despite battery replacement, multiple checkups, precautions taken by turning off anything that could be draining the battery anyway, “nothing is wrong.” Is there anyone else with this issue and/or a lawsuit someone is filing?
I have a Subaru Outback 2022 that was running smoothly for about a year and a half.
Suddenly, in 2024, the car won’t start, the car repeatedly turns off and on, and required a jumpstart. Things seem fine after that, but not long after, when left parked for more than a few days, the same issue occurred. So, because it was under warranty, we were able to replace the battery at our Subaru dealership and things seemed fine.
Once again, when left for 4 days, the car won’t start. It was jumped, but barely worked, and it was taken for maintenance at a Subaru dealership where a full, hours long battery maintenance was done and “no drains or problems were found.” Months later, the same issue happened, the same hours long test was done, once again, the same result “no drains, no problems.”
A wonderful woman at the dealership vaguely alluded to this being an issue, but if things were to happen again, show proof of the multiple battery tests done that I now carry in my car.
Today, for the fourth time, the car was left for a bit under a week, and will not start again. Same exact issue. Apparently, other Subarus kept at the garage I am stuck in have had this issue.
I heard of a lawsuit for models from 2015-2020, but is there anyone that knows of a current lawsuit? Is there anyone else with this problem?
I am lucky to be able to have afforded the multiple checkups we have had to do on this car, but I can’t keep doing this every few months and I’m scared this will happen when I’m alone on the road.
