My Disheartening Encounter with Damian Marley and The Marley Brothers — How do you handle disappointing experiences with public figures you admire?

I went to see The Marley Brothers perform in 2024. I suffer from social anxiety so I sat next to the wall toward the middle of the venue. I would record a song and then when the song was over I would lean forward with my elbows to my knees to review my recording.

Ky-Mani Marley took notice and perceived me to be struggling so he asked Damian, “Do you want her to stand up here with us?”

Damian responded with an expression of shock, anger, disgust, and fear as he stated: “No.. That’s what happens when you sit all the way in the back. So what?” — while making a shrugging gesture.

That was just one of a small series of cold and dismissive gestures Damian Marley made toward me that night.
