Notifications

Something strange happened last night. I was out to dinner with my girlfriend and we both got a notification from our Ring doorbell that someone was at the front door, our dog walker was bringing her home. The strange thing is I had no WiFi turned on and I had cellular access turned off for the doorbell. How did I get a notification?
