Bedframe Construction - Are bolts enough to keep Ash from squeaking?

General Discussion

I'm in the market for a new bedframe and the Carolina Leg Co's "Upton" frame caught my attention. I love that spindly look with a mix of modern and classic design elements, the beautiful Ash grain, and the 12" under bed storage space.

But when I look at the assembly, it appears to be held together with bolts and dowels, which screams squeaks to me.

Japanese Joinery seems really popular these days with Thuma, Tatami and others getting high marks for simple and sturdy bed frame assembly. If those types of beds do squeak, the suggestion is usually to put felt in the joints.

Are bolts and dowels any more likely to squeak than Japanese joinery?
