Password prompt

So, I just recently tried to log into my Workday account, after recently updating the app. I typed in my password, the correct one I have written down, and, it prompted me to make a new password automatically. I looked it up, and, it said your workday account password expires every 90 days. Is that true? I looked in my gmail, and, the last time I had an account problem was Janurary 31st, and that was me trying to change my password. But, a few months ago, lije, April I think, I did change my password with my boss and hr, as we have to contact hr to get our password changed. So, is this a security protocol, or was my workday account hacked?
