It's my birthday.
I think this is the first birthday ever that I woke up genuinely happy and excited to turn a year older. I used to dread my birthdays. I'd spend the entire day crying and worrying about things that eventually sorted themselves out and worked out for my good.
I used to be sad on my birthday mostly because I was broke and unemployed. My relationship with my mother was in the pits, I was depressed and each year I turned older with nothing to show for.
Today, as I turned a year older, I worked for three hours then ditched my job to go out and have some fun. I dressed up, went to town, bought my dream phone, some flowers and I'm now having a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant.
My mother was the first person to wish me a happy birthday followed by a hefty Mpesa notification (I couldn't believe my eyes honestly lol) Then came my grandmother, my aunty and cousin, then my grandfather. I shed a tear as that old man sang the birthday song to me on the other end of the line. Lol.
I used to dream of birthdays like the one I'm celebrating today. I have so much to be grateful for! So so much!
I guess what I'm trying to say is, everything works out eventually. Your life will get better, your relationship with your parent will get better, you'll get that job that will give you full independence, you will meet genuine friends who will love, respect and support you, you will move out and have a safe, beautiful home all to yourself. And money will come my darling friend, the economy will do wonderfully for you. Loool
It's a waste of time to worry about things that are beyond your control. Live, one day at a time, be optimistic, don't worry about how it will work out or when, just believe in your mind and soul that it will all work out for your good. Then relax and let time do it's thing.
That's all.
Happy birthday to me. ππ₯
