new friend started our friendship by badmouthing someone — now I see she’s the toxic one and won’t respect my boundaries
I recently made a new friend, but she started our friendship by constantly badmouthing and complaining about someone. That “someone” happened to be a mutual acquaintance. In the beginning, I believed her side of the story. But as time went on and I saw things for myself, I started to realize that the person she complained about might have actually been right. This girl is very overbearing and is choking me with her need for constant space-sharing. She doesn’t take “no” for an answer, keeps asking me the same questions over and over, and I’m noticing toxic habits and actions that could explain why the person she spoke so badly about reacted the way they did.
Now, I’m really sick of her behaviour. I want to distance myself, but she just doesn’t respect boundaries, and I’m not sure what to do anymore.
This new friend is also so narcissistic, she hasn’t once been curious about me or wanted to know me the way friends do, she constantly is just talking about her life, herself, her problems and even when i do try to give inputs she most of the times just cuts me off and goes on. she also lies a lot about general life. i can’t trust her with anything she says anymore.
She also is badmouthing about that girl to everyone she knows that’s causing people to avoid her and i really don’t know what to do.
