Did they make the mines harder?

Is it just my in-game luck or did they make the mines harder with the update? I’m on level 55 and I can barely get through 5 levels without fighting for my life. I literally get attacked by everything all at once and I can’t peacefully find my exit to the next floor. I also don’t think I have the recipe for stairs yet so that sucks
