🚨 Scam Alert for Designers 🚨

Just got an email from “Katie Barkely” (email: Katiebarkley02@outlook.com) claiming to own “Kayvas Luxury Furniture” in Houston, Texas.

She asked for a logo and 24-page brochure with a “super flexible budget” and wanted to mail a U.S. check (while supposedly being overseas) to pay a deposit, then have me work with her “consultant” who has all the content.

I couldn’t find any legitimate website or proof the company exists, and after searching, I found multiple designers online have received the exact same email.

Warning: This is a known overpayment/check scam. • They send a fake check that temporarily clears. • They ask you to forward part of the money to the “consultant.” • The check later bounces and you lose your own money.

✅ Tip for other creatives: Always verify clients, never accept mailed checks from strangers, and insist on secure payment methods like PayPal Business, Wise, or direct bank transfer.

Stay safe out there!
