How to ask a doctor for more meds

Hey all, I have been on Gabapentin for the last 3 months and I only take 200 mgs. I often take at least triple the dose to feel any real effects. I decided to see a new doctor in hopes to increase it, but I am not sure how to word my need for a higher dose without sounding pushy. Any advice?
