Why "Clair Obscur" Title for this video game? My interpretation using the clair obscur monsters found in game.
First of all, we get to see a monster in game called Clair obscur. It is made of 2 bodies.

They are representation of Aline and Renoir.
- Aline who paints life (White)
- Renoir who paints death (Black), also "noir" in renoir means black in French.
When renoir fought back against her, the fracture happened, it means when black and white meets, fracture happen (I mention it again here: [A very real, truthful reason why Gustave invented the Lumina converter. : r/expedition33](https://www.reddit.com/r/expedition33/comments/1mkzz22/comment/n7ns7d1/))
The red color despite it being associated to Renoir, it actually might represent the sick passionate state Aline entered in. So whenever Renoir "kills Aline chroma" by doing a gommage, or altering some of the world chroma controlled by her, red petals show up. We can see the Clair Obscur NEVRON becoming chromatic being translated by it the white side becoming red:
Chromatic nevron could be just nevrons that absorbed more of the canvas chroma (Chroma mostly controlled by Aline = monsters becoming REDDER, more red).
The Indigo tree area had something disturbing its chroma Lune said, it might be simply Renoir being able to remove all Aline control of the chroma of that area, effectively removing the color white from the Clair obscur monster:
it is all black, renoir and renoir work, aline influence was ejected.
As for the last clair obscur in the game, behind the window of a room of a manor
I am not quite sure, but wonder if it ever changes color.
Finally: the white sands area is probably from a perion before the fracture where the both Renoir and Aline were mostly fine. It was all white, no gommage and no death painted. Although I could not fully explain the red petals there.
