Only mirror strategy in CWL

My clan has been stuck in Master 1 for the last six months, even though we have all maxed TH17s (serious rank pushers). My clan has this rule of attacking only our mirrors, and if someone wants to attack another base, they need to get permission. I want to know how to convince my clan leader that this is a really stupid rule that is limiting our potential.
