Best bang for buck? m1/2/3/4? air or pro? new or refurbished? from apple?

Help

Hey guys - I’m sure this has been asked before but I can’t find what I need on Reddit.

I’m still using my 2017 MacBook Pro. It’s time to get something new. My E & T letters keep coming off my butterfly keyboard, and turns out those are pretty important letters. :)

I use my computer for work and writing - no gaming. But I will say I’ve used the full 8 GB on my current pro. I’m sure I could avoid that on my next one by using an external hard drive.

What are you thoughts on best bang for buck in terms of chip and model? Are refurbished computers legit? Also I usually buy from Apple direct, is that still the best route?

Would love your help! I’m on a budget but also use my computer daily so I want to be smart about it.

Thank you!!
