Buying Used 1/2 Ton truck vs New Micro "Truck"(Ford Maverick)?

My current vehicle is a 2011 4x4 5.0L V8 F-150 (~15L/100km, 15.7mpg). I like the truck, but even with oil spraying it every year, the frame rust issues and increasingly common repair/maintenance bills ($7,000 just last year) are making me look at replacing it with something newer and better on gas.

Option 1: I was originally just going to replace it with a similar, but newer, 1/2-ton V6 truck: a 5-7 year old XL 4x4 3.3L/6-speed F-150 with ~100,000km. Lots are available and can be found for around $30,000 CAD. The fuel bill would be closer to $375/month (12L/100km, 19.6mpg). However, if I kept the truck for 10 years, by the end of my ownership it would be 15 years old with 350,000-400,000km, getting close to its life span and posing a higher risk of breakdowns and higher cost of ownership overall.

Option 2: Downsize and get a new Ford Maverick XL Hybrid AWD with a 4K Tow package for $38,000 CAD. This would fulfill the desire for a "Truck" and I would have to get used to having the smaller bed but like most truck owners 90% of the time I'm just hauling air. I'm starting to like the idea of having a new car with a warranty for the first few years, and a hybrid that can still tow a little but can get around 7L/100km, 33.6mpg ($220/month).

I live on a farm and like having a truck for hauling dirty tools, chainsaws, gas, and firewood in the bed. I want 4x4/AWD for winter driving, launching my boat and getting around farm. I do a bit amount of light towing on the weekends from 1,500lb to 4,000lb, but if there's something heavier, I can always borrow my dad's F-150.

My total commute is 66km (16,500km/year) and I drive ~25,000km/year total. The $8,000 price difference would be offset by the fuel savings of almost $2,000/year in a few years. Plus, I would have a new car with a warranty and probably fewer major repairs, at least for the first few years.

I've looked at used mid-sized trucks, but they all seem get around the same MPG as the F-150, and the prices are too similar or higher (Tacoma) to justify buying.

Any feedback or advice would be appreciated:)
