Fluval Stratum with Walking Catfish

I have a 7 inch Carius Catfish, and my tank was crystal clear with fluval stratum, but ever since my other two fish died (aerator incident while I was at work) I got a new Walking catfish as the current sole resident for my tank.

Ever since getting him, he’s digging under the layer of gravel into the fluval stratum and bringing it to the top, which is then being flung around by both him and the airstones, and resulting in a permanent cloudy tank, it gets noticeably clearer during the day because he’s less active with the light on.

Is there a solution to this or can I not mix a planted tank with a burrowing species?
