why do so many people like rex and eve as characters?

i honestly can’t bring myself to like either of them. rex is that “i’m funny because i’m traumatized!” archetype that i simply cannot stand (doubly so because he isn’t even funny, he’s just loud and swears) and i think his voice acting is lackluster which makes me like him even less. i couldn’t bring myself to care about him at all.

and eve to me is just so… nothing. her dynamic with her parents is interesting but it feels like the writers are afraid to make her flawed. i liked the part where she realizes that she has no clue what the hell she’s doing (the chicago sinkhole) because it gave her more depth, but now they’re just making her an architecture student and not doing anything else with it. and now that she and mark are dating in the show (and i’ve already seen evidence of this in season three with multiple instances of mark just complaining at her and her going “aww i’m sorry mark :(“) i’m worried that she’s going to become even less interesting and relegated to “main character’s girlfriend.”

honestly though none of the female characters in this show are particularly well-written besides my GOAT debbie. amber is… amber, kate and monster girl are pretty much immortal/rudy’s pets, and rae didn’t become interesting until they decided to make her date rex.
