Maddening Sales Dashboard, never accurate

Sales Topic General Discussion

Hey all, wondering if anyone else deals with this.

At my company, our sales dashboard is never accurate. Last month, my manager told me I missed quota by 20%, but when I double-checked my own records, I had actually hit 140%. That’s not a small margin of error — that’s the difference between being “in trouble” and being top of the leaderboard.

It’s not just me, either. The revenue and commission numbers they post are almost always off, and somehow they only seem to “get fixed” at the last minute — usually after multiple reps speak up. I’ve even seen them forget to pay commissions entirely for certain deals until someone raises a stink.

It’s frustrating because this is how our performance is measured, how bonuses are calculated, and how leadership supposedly tracks company health. How are we supposed to trust the numbers or set goals when the data is unreliable?

Is this just bad ops at my company, or is this common in sales? Curious if anyone else has dealt with this and how you handled it — especially when the errors impact your paycheck.
