Will my summer co-op help my uni applications if the job wasn’t related?

Advice

I’m going into Grade 12 and planning to apply to accounting programs (e.g., Waterloo AFM, UofT, Guelph Commerce/Accounting co-op).

This summer I took co-op (part of my Energy SHSM). The “related course” for co-op that I was assigned was BAF3M (Grade 11 Accounting). However, my department got switched last minute, and I ended up in a more mechanical job that wasn’t related to accounting at all. My related course stayed as accounting, so my written assignments still connected to that.

How much will this co-op experience actually help my university applications, given the mismatch between my assigned related course (accounting) and my actual work duties (mechanical)?

Thank you
