Thursday, August 8, 2025 MLB Main Slate – 14 Games
Huh?
I'm Gary, a graphic designer in Flint, Michigan, and a data and pattern nerd. I drank from the hose quite a bit growing up. 🙄
In an effort to improve and expand a new sports project I'm working on, I thought this might be helpful to some of you DFS baseball nuts staring at a huge 14 game slate on a Friday night.
It's not meant to replace MLB Weather by any means -- just maybe remind a new Guy that Coors Bump is a real thing to consider.
So, TONIGHT!
Sunshine, domes, and just enough breeze to make the garage fans click into gear. It’s lineup time, and the meteorologist says go nuts!
🧰 Garage Forecast
We’re rolling with clean skies. No major delays, no wet gloves, and no thunderstorms to dodge. You won’t need a tarp for this one—just a stack, a sneaky pivot, and a little wind-reading wisdom.
📡 LEGEND
🌞 = Clear skies / No weather concern 💨 = Notable wind (stack-sensitive) 🔥 = Hot & humid (boosts ball carry) 🌧️ = Rain threat / keep tabs 🛖 = Dome game (no weather impact)
🌀 GARAGE TAKEAWAYS
🌞 It’s a green slate! Every game is safe to play unless a meteor crashes into Target Field late. Only MIN has slight late-night shower potential (~30% after 11pm). 💨 Winds blowing in at CLE @ CHW and KCR @ MIN — not enough to bench anyone, but don’t expect 14 HRs at those parks. 🔥 STL and CHW are HOT: Temps in the 90s with wind — big boost for mid-tier stacks like the Cards or sneaky Sox bats vs flyballers. 🛖 Six dome games — set and forget. These include PHI@TEX, NYM@MIL, COL@ARI, TBR@SEA, BOS@SD, and TOR@LAD (roof likely closed in AZ and SEA).
☀️ WEATHER BY GAME
🌞 CIN @ PIT – 83° and dry. Great air, no excuses. Batters get a slight carry boost. 🌞 HOU @ NYY – Low humidity, breezy. Good for flyball pitchers, neutral for bats. 🌞 OAK @ BAL – Steady breeze blowing in. Slight ding to RHB power, but warm temps hold steady. 🌧️ LAA @ DET – 8% precip early but holds at bay. S @ 9 mph, muggy. Slight boost to lefties. 🌞 MIA @ ATL – Humid, breezy. Good for offense. 69° dewpoint = ball may carry late. 💨 CLE @ CHW – Wind in from RF @ 10–12 mph. Slight tick down for LHB power. 🛖 PHI @ TEX – Dome. 🛖 NYM @ MIL – Dome. 🌧️ KCR @ MIN – Rain after game. SSE 14+ mph. Windier than you think. Keep RH bats in play. 🔥 CHC @ STL – 93° at first pitch, SE @ 12. Boost to flyballs, especially pull-happy bats. 🛖 COL @ ARI – Dome. 🛖 TBR @ SEA – Dome. 🌞 BOS @ SD – Classic SD evening. Neutral conditions. 🌞 TOR @ LAD – Dry and breezy. Slight boost to lefty flyballs at Dodger Stadium. 🌞 WSH @ SF – Cool & breezy. WSW 11+ mph knocks down high flies.
💡 DFS TIP OF THE DAY
When it’s a full green slate, DFS becomes about context—not chaos. Leverage matters more than forecast. Don’t overvalue hitters just because it’s hot. Let ownership guide your pivots. Weather can only help or hurt what’s already smart.
Use weather to break ties, not to force in bad plays just because it’s 92° in Missouri.
📘 DFS WEATHER 101 – The Garage Guide Forget the fluff. Here’s how weather actually impacts your fantasy builds—and when it doesn’t.
🔥 Heat = Home Run Juice Warm air is thinner, and the ball flies farther. Every 10° above 70° adds a small but real lift to slugging. Today: STL (93°), CHW (90°), MIN (87°) — consider small power boosts for your 3–4–5 hitters.
💨 Wind = Directional Danger or Delight Wind OUT to CF = more HRs Wind IN from RF = suppresses lefty power Wind across field = minor impact unless 15+ mph Today: Winds in from RF at CHW and MIN, but not strong enough to fully fade hitters.
🌧️ Rain = Risk, Not Just Delay Even low-odds rain games bring pitcher risk. Mid-inning delays can ruin a starter’s night (pitch count reset). Today: MIN has light rain risk after 11pm. No action required, but monitor late pivots if timing shifts.
🌫️ Humidity = Ball Grip + Carry Pitchers struggle to grip in humidity; it also helps the ball carry further. Sneaky edge for stacks. Today: ATL (82% humidity late), DET (73%) — high dewpoints can spark late scoring.
🛖 Domes = No Chaos Ignore weather entirely. No boost. No bust. Just bats vs arms. Today: 6 dome games = ✅ safe to stack, safe to pitch.
🧮 ACCOUNTING NOTE No games expected to postpone or delay. Roof games are protected, and outfield winds are moderate. You’re clear to build without hedges tonight!
🏁 FINAL THOUGHTS It’s a go-for-it night in DFS. No pivots required for weather. Use stack logic, leverage plays, and hot bats—not radar maps—to make your move.
Brains, not barometers. Smash your slate and let the garage skills reward you! 🤑
