The Goggins truth that makes motivation look like a scam

💬 Discussion

For years, I chased motivation — watching inspirational videos, reading quotes, waiting for that spark to get moving. The problem? It never lasted.

I recently heard David Goggins talk about this in a way that completely reframed it for me. He said that motivation and passion are often watered down. They sound good, but they’re not what gets results.

What actually moves the needle is showing up every day, especially when you don’t want to. It’s about being consistent, putting yourself in uncomfortable situations, and forcing yourself to grow.

You don’t have to be the most talented person in the room. Just by showing up and doing the work, you’ll eventually outlast people who quit when it’s hard — and that alone puts you in a small percentage of people operating at an elite level.

This really hit me, because it made me look at all the times I waited to “feel ready” instead of just getting started.

How do you keep yourself consistent on the days you feel like doing nothing?
