Hi all! Like the title suggests, I am looking to get feedback from others who were in this situation so that I can have more points of view in order to help me decide what to do.

I have sadly inherited a lot of solid gold jewelry from my aunt and grandmother, both who recently passed. One example of something I’ve inherited in this beautiful solid gold charm bracelet- all the charms are 9k or 14k gold. My grandmother fulfilled her dream of traveling the world and collected charms from her travels to put on this bracelet. It was very sentimental for her, but not so much to me as these charms represent her memories, not mine.

The bracelet is sentimental to me only because it belonged to my grandmother, and what it meant to her, but I have no interest in wearing it because it’s quite loud/distracting, and it’s also filled with charms that represent memories I have no context for. I am struggling with the idea of melting it down for the gold because it’s such a sentimental piece in general and it feels kind of wrong. So, right now, it is just sitting in my jewelry box.

For others who have been in a similar situation- what was your decision-making process like for this kind of predicament, and what decision did you make? I feel like my options are:
- wear it and love wearing it
- melt down for gold
- keep unused in my jewelry box, maybe pass on to someone else
- sell the piece if possible ?

What to do with inherited jewelry that is sentimental to the deceased but not you?
