Irresponsible lending result - but questions!
Hi folks,
Long story short, I got myself into quite a bit of debt after my dad passed away. As many of you may know this debt spirals easily.
I was taking out loans to pay credit cards - the worst thing you could probably do. I took out a loan recently with Zopa (my third loan with them).
I raised an irresponsible lending claim on the advice of an accountant friend again Zopa and they agreed I’d been incorrectly provided the money for 2 out of the 3 loans which I applaud them for owning up to.
They have now defaulted these two loans and removed it from my credit history. I have remaining balances still to pay them - has anyone been in this position before? Do I just set up a direct debit with them to pay off over time? They said they would reach out to set up a payment but I haven’t heard anything yet.
My friend also advised for the 1 loan they didn’t uphold my complain on - that I should pass this on to the financial ombudsman - my query is - could the financial ombudsman do anything to negatively affect me - eg say they shouldn’t have defaulted the other 2 loans?
I hope that makes sense for you.
Thanks!
