How find a British friend?

Hi everyone what are options we have when trying to find a friend in the UK, I’m (M35) living here for 6 yers and yet still I never made any friends. I’m cool, funny, super social, not weird. But what options we have? Do you guys accept other people in your lives? Or You simply don’t like it? Or don’t care about making friends? What are the signs that a dude is open to a friendship. If I start a chat in the gym, pub, market, it will be weird? I did invite people for to do stuff, but they simply don’t make any effort. Like not even a text message. Is there hope? If not not I can simply accept the culture and not try anymore. Please someone let me know.
