I cannot go near my rescue and it’s been almost a year- thinking I might need to rehome her.
I have two cats. One is a four year old male cat who is neutered that I got from a lady on Facebook. I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old and no issues with him. I thought he was lonely without me there all day post COVID, so I thought I would adopt a kitten.
A local rescue was advertising a 12 week old female who was “shy” and needed a home with other cats to help her grow her “confidence. They told me she was found feral at 8 weeks and then a fosterer had her for the following 4 weeks. When I got her, she was not shy, she was FERAL and very fearful of humans. Over time I got her to play and she gets on well with my other cat.
But it’s been almost a year and I have never touched her, petted her or played with her in close proximity. If I move too fast she will run away and she still spends most of her time hiding away. She does sit on the couch next to me or on my bed and has smelled me ones or twice, but she is still very scared of me. If I try to touch her she either attacks me or her face changes to one of pure anger and fear and she darts away.
I really don’t know what to do now. I thought she might have come on further by now especially seeing how my other cat sits on me and loves affection. Any one have any tips? I am desperate as I can’t keep doing this with her and really need to consider if this is the right home for her.
