Just got my second iud removed today!
Hello! I just got back from my appointment and wanted to share about my experience.
I’ve had two iud’s so far, both mirena. First one went as smooth and perfect as it could go for the insertion/removal and the entire 5 years I had it in. I gave myself a year break and went abstinent. So in July last year, I got my second iud. The doctor had made a weird remark about my uterus being “tilted”during the insertion which had really gotten under my skin. As soon as it went in, I could feel it pushing up again the side of my uterus. My body started contracting almost everyday several times a day for weeks trying to get it out! I had called twice and they told me to wait until my follow up appointment to give it time to settle. Which when time came, they said it was fine. Fast forward to now, a year later. It did settle but I always felt like a cramp off to my side or when I would sit or drive or lay down for a while I would feel it push against me. I just got it removed today! As soon and it was removed that cramp feeling went away instantly.
When I had my first iud I felt fine after insertion. I even spoke at my high school graduation 3 hours after. So I highly recommend if you feel like something is wrong with it then get a replacement bc it shouldn’t hurt.
Also, I would get another one! When it’s done properly, it’s 100% worth it!
