Why A 4K BluRay is actually a good value. Even at $28.

New Purchase

I purchased the Phoenician Scheme to watch tonight with my wife and I paid about $28 after tax. This is more than most of us like to pay for a disc, I know. I like to hover between $15-25 for most purchases with a few exceptions for imports. But even at $28 it costs the same as when we went to see it in the theater. I found my old receipt and with “convenience fees” the two of us cost me $28.

The 4K disc has several advantages. The picture on my OLED is better than I see at the local theater. The black levels are always superior to projection. I can pause it when I need to take a leak. The sound is better at home on my McIntsoh/Sonus Faber system and I can turn it down if it is too loud! and the final reason why this is better? I own it forever. It’s mine and I can watch it again or rewind to look at something again while watching.

This is why I don’t go to the movies as often as I used to. The same money for a better experience and I own the movie!
