I used wrong email when booking train, would I be entitled to a refund at all?
I booked a train journey which took place on Friday at the beginning of the week on the Transpenine express app. I was logged in under the correct email. However sometimes when I pay using Apple Pay it can default to using my old university email (which I’ve not had access to for a number of years) even after I deleted it from my contact on my iPhone, it’s not normally been a problem either way as I normally get a confirmation and a ticket on the app.
Blunder number 2 on my part is that I didn’t check until the day of, thinking that my app would just have the ticket there ready since I was logged into my account. Then I find that there’s no ticket there and obviously no confirmation emails anywhere. I tried to call but was on hold for 30 minutes without an answer, tried to WhatsApp, they were not convinced my card had been charged but it indeed had been, then was directed to make a case, so I did that. They said they couldn’t find a booking, and I asked if they could check the old email, which I didn’t get a response until today so I had to buy another train ticket - that response being that I need to contact them using that email (I already said I couldn’t). Again I have no way of confirming that I even made the error of booking this under a wrong email.
I’m aware I’ve made some errors on my own part here so I don’t need the lecture here but I also think this could have been solved had they taken the information I given them and asked me for other info and just helped? Would I have a right to request the information about the old email in any way? Would I normally be entitled to a refund under this sort of situation for either the original ticket or the latter ticket?
