There’s been a lot of opinions out there about the new ID Verification system and I’m going to state two things which I have not seen mentioned yet, to hopefully correct some common misconceptions.

**YouTube already asks for ID and has done so for many years.**
- Some advanced features like embedding live streams or appealing Content ID claims, have required ID Verification for years. I have done this process many times across many channels and I have never faced any issues after doing so, Google even claims to delete the ID some time after you’re verified. If you look deep enough in your Google Data settings you can actually see if/when it was removed from their system.
- After providing my ID to them so many times already over so many years I can confirm that **nothing** bad has come from it.

**YouTube did not come up with this idea all by themselves.**
- Everyone’s unhappy with the change, which is completely fair; However they’re unfairly directing the hatred towards YouTube as if it was their idea to start this forced verification process. Our governments have put pressure onto all social media platforms to request ID from all their users, even going as far as to offer big penalties/fines for companies that fail to do so.

In conclusion, YouTube is being forced by lawmakers to impose forced verification. These restrictions are being put in place to **end online anonymity**. They will tell you it is to protect the younger generation, but their true intention is to link an identity to every online persona, so they can hold people accountable for things said and done on the internet.

To those concerned about the incoming YouTube ID Verification.
