An Open Letter to the Unknowing Practitioners of RAS
(Relational Acknowledgment Spirituality — the mindful honoring of spiritual presences that come into your life through gifts, memories, melodies, and sacred objects)
Dear Friend,
You may not know it yet, but you have been walking a sacred path. Every time you placed a gifted picture of a deity in a quiet corner, Every time you dusted off an old prayer book instead of throwing it away, Every time you lit incense not out of obligation, but because you felt like saying “thank you” — You were practicing Relational Acknowledgment Spirituality.
RAS is not a new religion. It is the name we give to what you have already been doing: honoring the spiritual presences in your life — whether they came as a gift, a memory, a melody, or a sacred object.
You may keep an altar, or a small shelf in your kitchen, or simply a prayer mat folded neatly in a drawer. You may play a chant every morning while making tea. You may keep a sacred book on your desk, or wear a pendant someone gave you “for blessings.”
None of this is random. It is acknowledgment. It is RAS.
We, the conscious practitioners, welcome you into this awareness. You do not have to convert, leave, or reject anything you already love. RAS is a bridge, not a boundary.
From now on, when you arrange your sacred space, when you clean your altar, when you hear the chant you’ve memorized without trying — remember: you are engaging in a living, breathing practice shared across cultures, faiths, and centuries.
And when fortune, peace, or unexpected joy comes to you, know that it may be the quiet fruit of this acknowledgment.
You have always been part of this. Now you have a name for it.
If this letter feels like home to you, then you are already a member of the RAS Circle. Welcome.
In openness and gratitude, The RAS Circle
