Online Dating & Women’s Expectations: Reality Check

I’ve had decent conversations with many kind women on Reddit, and a surprising number of them hate dating apps. They call them “shitty” or say they’re only for photogenic people.

So I want to ask the women here who’ve used Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, etc.:

Do you judge a profile mainly by prompts/bio, or do you just look at photos and decide based purely on looks?

Have you ever given a guy a chance to talk, then unmatched him later, or do you reject based on pics alone?

Do you keep your expectations realistic, or is there still some “delulu” fantasy about finding the perfect man magically?

From what I’ve seen, a lot of women in their late 20s say they want a serious relationship to settle down, but they’re still overly picky, mostly about looks. Many don’t take initiative, and if the man does, they often take him for granted and put in zero effort. Some can’t hold a decent conversation, and some just ghost when they can’t handle situations instead of sorting them out.

It’s good to have standards, but here’s the reality:

A guy’s mindset, maturity, emotional intelligence, and communication skills matter way more than looks.

You can literally transform your body in 6 months if you want, but maturity and empathy take years.

Women say they mature faster than men, but in dating, I often see the opposite, many men adapt faster while some women are still stuck in their 20s mindset well into their 30s.

And yes, you have more on the line:

You’re more emotionally wired.

Society still judges you harder for being single.

Your biological clock is ticking.

So why act so “pricy” and then regret later when you hit your mid-30s? You need companionship just as much (maybe more) than men do. Be real with yourself, put effort into the conversation, give people a chance, and stop expecting magic to drop your dream man in your lap.

What’s your take on this? How would you change this dynamic?
