We have our interview this week and have some questions.
Hi all, I am an American citizen who applied for my wife few months back. We have an interview coming up but I am concerned about few things. We did have a lawyer that worked with us to submit all the documents, etc. but now they won't answer any question regarding interview unless we pay a separate interview fee (couple thousand $). But, that's another story. a) My wife came here on a tourist visa (shes been here many times when we dated) and we got married (wasnt planned), didn't even have a proper wedding but we had a get together with friends and family. She was considering going back home and for us to apply that way but lawyer told us it would be easier if she stayed here and we applied. So, we applied for AOS 5 months after she arrived. We did get married within about 2.5 months or so of her arrival. b) We live with my family (parents, siblings) so the bills aren't even in my name much less hers. Will that be an issue? c) Regarding income: so, I had a temporary disability which prevented me from working but last 2 years I have had pretty good income (~$400K last year for example). However, I was told that they need 3 years of income (do they average them? because 3 years ago my income was close to $0). Also, because of that my wife doesn't work and she just uses my credit cards for everything. I did make her an authorized user on one of my credit cards. d) I wasn't born an American citizen, but I received citizenship due to my parents becoming citizens before I turned 18. I only have my passport, but I read I may need some other certificate? Will this cause an issue? I don't have original copy of my foreign birth certificate but I have a copy. We do have tons of photos though from different states we visited, and different family and friends we spent time with. I hope that can show that its a real marriage. Thank you so much!
