The noise you chase

I can feel you pacing forward and back theorizing
bewildered by the traffic and the advertising
spurned on by your own perpetual yearn
to be seen to be read to earn

clambering over each of us absurdly
our mild tones of color hidden in the herd
our attempts to paint the world with our words
but we are just chasing noise and echoes

So for now just flatter me with sweet compliments
get the floating ego another inch off the ground
so your sense of self can return to sleeping sound
Get that awareness turned right down
