Existing Hard Drive on New Hardware

Windows 11

I am building a new system and want to use my old hard drive and windows install.

The old system was windows 10 with a 2600x. The new system has a 7800x3d on an asrock B650M pro RS.

I built the system and everything is working fine, the BIOS was recognizing all my hardware and the drive from the old system. However, the "boot options" menu in the BIOS was missing entirely.

In order to get the BIOS to recognize the drive as a boot option I had to enable CSN. If the system was restarted with CSN enabled it would get hung up and never actually boot. I then changed the "Launch Video OpROM Policy" setting from "UEFI only" to "Legacy only". This did the trick and the system booted off the old drive.

I'm not super familiar with the implications of these settings. My goal is to upgrade to windows 11 at this point.

Are those BIOS settings OK? Will the system be able to upgrade like this? Is there any way to get the system up to date running UEFI without formatting my existing drive or purchasing a new windows 11 license?

Thanks for the help!
