Is there a point in US history in which there was NOT a significant anti-immigration sentiment among politicians and/or citizens?
Regardless of the reason, has there ever been a point like this in history?
For example, Native Americans were opposed to European immigrants because of the abuses they inflicted upon the natives. There obviously have also been periods of anti-immigration sentiment based on xenophobia, Antisemitism, etc. Has there been a time in US history that this was not the case, one way or another?
