My Experience on Buying Instagram Followers – Was It Worth It?
So I know this might be a little controversial, but I wanted to share my experience buying Instagram followers not to promote it, but to give an honest take in case anyone’s been curious.
A few months ago, I was stuck at around 500 followers. I was posting consistently, using hashtags, making Reels, and engaging with other accounts, all the “right” things. But Instagram can be brutal when you’re starting out. No one wants to follow a page that looks inactive or unknown.
Out of curiosity (and a bit of frustration), I decided to test the waters and bought 5,000 Instagram followers for about $100 from a mediamister claiming to deliver “realistic” profiles. I went in fully aware of the risks, possible fake accounts, no engagement, potential algorithm issues, but here’s what happened:
The Good Stuff:
- The followers came in steadily over a few days, not all at once.
- Most of them looked like normal accounts with profile pics and posts.
- My profile looked more established, which honestly gave me a small confidence boost to keep posting.
- I noticed slightly better organic engagement on my next few posts nothing huge, but definitely more reach and a handful of new real followers.
What Didn’t Happen (Thankfully):
- I didn’t get shadow-banned.
- My account wasn’t flagged or suspended.
- The follower count stayed consistent no big drops.
The Real Talk:
The followers didn’t really engage, but the initial boost made my profile look active and credible. That, in turn, made it easier for real people to follow me without hesitation.
Would I do it again? For a brand-new account or a rebrand, maybe. For the cost, it gave my page a more professional feel and helped me feel more motivated to post consistently.
If you’re looking to kickstart your Instagram journey and want a quick confidence boost, buying followers can help with that initial momentum. It’s not a long-term growth strategy, but it can give you that early push.
Happy to answer any questions if you’re curious about trying it too!
