Full siblings with different ancestry results - is this normal? (68% vs 42% Danish, 6% vs 25% Irish
My sister and I are confirmed full siblings (2,682 cM shared DNA on GEDmatch), but we got very different ancestry results when we both ran our raw DNA through the ExploreYourDNA G25 analysis.
The differences:
- Danish: Me 68.5%, Sister 42% (26% difference)
- Irish: Me 6%, Sister 25% (19% difference)
- Different Slavic populations entirely
Additional context:
- Our ancient DNA components are nearly identical
- There was a documented vanishing twin in my pregnancy (AI mentioned chimerism is a possibility on my end, but I have no idea if that would contribute to these results)
- My mother is also a twin (fraternal)
- Family always believed mom's side was Irish, which matches my sister but not me
- We have a family history of issues with methylation and pregnancy complications
Any thoughts on how to interpret this? Is is possible the "ExploreYourDNA" analysis is very inaccurate?
