My first road bike

Hey all,

I’m looking for my first road bike and could use some input on what to consider.

Budget: Under $2,000 (before accessories) Location: NYC Use case: Not for commuting — will be used for fitness rides, weekend loops, and park/greenway cycling. I’m starting with moderate distances (12–20 miles) but want a bike I can grow into for longer rides.

Bikes currently on my radar: • Trek Domane AL 5 • Canyon Endurance: Allroad

I’m aiming for something with endurance geometry, solid components, and good long-ride comfort without going over budget. I’m open to aluminum or carbon if the value is there, but I want to keep maintenance fairly straightforward for a beginner.

Given my riding environment (NYC streets + Central Park + Hudson River Greenway), what other models should I be looking at in this price range? Any pros/cons you’ve found with the bikes I listed?
